Medichem (Pty) Ltd. is a South African manufacturer and supplier of hygiene solutions, specialising in detergents, disinfectants, and ancillary cleaning products for the healthcare, food-processing, hospitality, and industrial sectors.

The company was founded by a hygiene industry professional with decades of hands-on experience in hospital and clinical environments. Prior to establishing Medichem, the founder served as Chief Executive Officer of a South African hygiene company that developed a number of hospital-grade hygiene products during the 1980s.

That business was subsequently acquired in its entirety by a multinational hygiene group. Certain products developed during this period were already well established within the South African healthcare sector at the time of acquisition and continue to be supplied today under international brand ownership. This depth of leadership experience and early involvement in the development of established hygiene solutions continues to inform Medichem’s approach to formulation, performance, and reliability.

All Medichem products are manufactured at the company’s facility in Atlantis, Western Cape, under controlled conditions and robust quality management systems. Medichem holds ISO 9001 certification, demonstrating its commitment to consistent quality, traceability, and continual improvement.

Building on its healthcare foundations, Medichem has expanded its product range to serve the hygiene-critical food industry, where compliance with ISO 22000 and HACCP requirements is essential. Medichem offers a dedicated range of cleaning and disinfectant products that are registered with NSF as Nonfood Compounds and certified Halaal, making them suitable for use in food-processing and food-handling environments when used in accordance with label instructions. Selected products are also registered with the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS), where applicable and required by South African regulations.

Medichem manufactures and supplies a comprehensive portfolio of hygiene solutions, including surface disinfectants, detergents, specialised hand hygiene products, alcoholic hand rubs, floor care and laundry products, as well as ancillary hygiene products such as paper products, brooms, mops, buckets, brushware, and cleaning accessories.

In addition to supplying hygiene chemicals and equipment, Medichem provides hygiene training and auditing support to assist customers in meeting ISO 22000 and HACCP hygiene requirements. All products are subject to rigorous quality control and testing procedures to ensure effectiveness, safety, and consistency, reinforcing Medichem’s focus on practical, fit-for-purpose hygiene solutions for demanding environments.
